What happens on exam day

Nothing here is difficult, but every year candidates lose an attempt to a detail they did not know.

Bring the right identification

You need an original, valid, unexpired government photo ID. Copies are not accepted. A photograph of you and of your ID is taken at check-in, and you are told the session is recorded.

Check-in

Arrive 15 minutes early. Orientation and registration must be finished before the exam starts, so arriving on the hour means starting late or not at all.

During the exam

Two hours, 100 questions, closed book. That is a little over a minute per question — enough to read carefully, not enough to agonise. Flag and move on rather than stalling.

What gets you flagged

The handbook lists behaviours a proctor will flag, and they are the ones you would expect: notes or unauthorised materials, another person in the room, leaving the field of view, phones, and anything that looks like capturing exam content. Treat the room as monitored throughout, because it is.

If you are sitting it remotely

Some candidates still complete a remotely proctored session. That setup needs a computer or laptop with a working webcam and microphone (no tablets, Chromebooks or phones), at least 5 Mbps up and down, macOS or Windows (not Linux, S mode or a virtual machine), permission to install software, the Guardian Browser, and a mirror or phone camera to show the proctor your monitor. Install and test everything the day before, never on the morning.

Your booking confirmation is the authority on which format you are sitting. Follow it over any guide, this one included.
