HCA exam prep for Alberta colleges

For Alberta HCA programs and their instructors. Your students sit a pass-or-fail exam that reports no score and returns no questions. This is how a program sees what its cohort actually knows — while there is still time to teach it.

The problem the exam creates for a program

The Alberta HCA Registration Examination reports pass or fail only. Candidates receive a strengths graph and never see the questions. For a college that means the first hard signal about your teaching arrives after the cohort has already sat it, one student at a time, and it is not attributable to anything you can change.

A practice platform built to the same blueprint gives you that signal earlier and in aggregate.

What an instructor gets

CapabilityWhat it answers
Readiness score per studentWho is going to fail, and how long have I known?
Cohort analytics by domainIs this cohort weak in Provision of Care or Safety?
Assignments and submissionsDid they do the work, and what did it show?
Blueprint view per cohortIs our coverage matching the real exam weighting?
Documentation and voice reviewWhat did they actually write and say?

Getting a cohort on

Enrolments can require instructor approval, so a student who signs up with the link does not get access until you admit them. Access windows can be set per student to match a funded term.

Seats you pay for are seats being used

Billing is per active student, so a shared login is a seat you paid for and nobody used. The platform enforces one active session per student, records login history for your own students, and flags accounts whose pattern suggests sharing — different networks, unusual hours, repeated device changes. You see the evidence; you decide.

Programs outside Alberta

Programs in Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan get the same cohort tools, with practice and analytics built on their own province's practice areas and law rather than Alberta's blueprint.

Student privacy

Any individual student's data can be exported or permanently deleted on request, which is what Alberta PIPA and the equivalent law in your province require of you. Login history is scoped to your own students and visible to nobody else.

Matching the platform to your program

Programs teach different things. Individual practice surfaces — the voice simulation, the DARP and SBAR documentation labs, the career tools — can be switched off for your students while instructors keep full access. Students never see a feature your program does not cover, and an instructor can still re-open one by setting an assignment that uses it.

What this is not

We are not the regulator and not the exam administrator. We do not register your students, book their attempts or influence their results. This is practice built to the published blueprint, plus the reporting a program needs to act on it.

Tell us about your program

Three fields are required; the rest help us come back to you with something useful rather than a generic reply.

Goes straight to a person, not a queue. We reply to the address you give us and nothing else happens with it.

Prefer email, or the form will not submit on your network? Write to hello@careaideprep.com and we will pick it up the same way. A form is a single point of failure between a college and us, and this page should not have one.

Common questions

Can a college track how ready its HCA students are for the exam?

Yes. CareAide computes a readiness score per student from their mock exams, quizzes, documentation practice and voice simulations, and surfaces it per cohort so an instructor can see who is at risk before the Alberta HCA Registration Examination rather than after.

How do students get added to a college account?

An Alberta HCA program can enrol students three ways: a CSV bulk upload for a whole intake, individual email invitations, or a branded join page at careaideprep.com/join/your-college which students sign up through themselves. Enrolments can require instructor approval before access is granted.

Can a college see which competency domains its cohort is weakest in?

Yes. Cohort analytics break performance down by the six Alberta HCA blueprint domains, so a program can see whether a cohort is weak in Provision of Care or Safety and adjust teaching before the exam.

Does the platform meet Alberta privacy requirements for student data?

Student data can be exported or permanently deleted per individual on request, which is what Alberta PIPA and the equivalent law in your province require. Login history is visible to the institution for its own students only.

Can a college hide features it does not teach?

Yes. An Alberta HCA program can switch off individual practice surfaces such as the voice simulation or the documentation labs for its students, while instructors keep full access, so the platform matches what the program actually covers.
